Instructions on How to create a Standalone Exams in MyMedstudy
Once you login to my.medstudy.com, click on Admin > More and select the Standalone Exams link from the menu. In this page, you can view/edit existing Standalone Exams or add a new Standalone Exam.
Click on Add a new Standalone Exam button displayed at the bottom of the page to create a new Standalone Exam. If you want to edit an already existing Standalone exam, you can click on the appropriate standalone exams you want to edit.
Once you login to my.medstudy.com, click on Admin > More and select the Standalone Exams link from the menu. In this page, you can view/edit existing Standalone Exams or add a new Standalone Exam.
Add/Edit a new Standalone Exam
Click on Add a new Standalone Exam button displayed at the bottom of the page to create a new Standalone Exam. If you want to edit an already existing Standalone exam, you can click on the appropriate standalone exams you want to edit.
In the new Standalone exam creation page, you may enter the exam name, select specialty, specify number of questions and duration of the exam.
Name: Specify the standalone exam name here. This exam name is viewed by the users.
Specialty: Select either IM or PEDS for the standalone exam.
Label: Enter a short label for viewing by users. If this label is not specified, it defaults to the standalone exam name entered above.
Description(optional): You can enter any exam description or instructions for the exam.
Number of Questions: You can specify the maximum number of questions for the exam. Please specify at least 1 in order to add questions to the exam.
Duration: This will be the time the student has to complete the exam. Specify the duration in minutes. Please specify at least 1 minute in order to save the exam.
Show exam in study mode: When selected it will show the exam in study mode. If this check box is not selected, the Standalone exam is displayed in the Practice Test mode. In Study mode of standalone exam, user will have as much time as needed to complete the session. User can repeat the study session as many times as he likes.
Click on Save button to save the Standalone exam. For any reason if you want to delete the Standalone exam, click on Delete button displayed on the bottom right side of the page.
Once you click the Save button, you will see all the Available Questions listed below.
Under Available Questions, Question filters is displayed. You can specify Topic, Version, Tags and Question Ids in the Question filter section. You can select the check-box for Standalone-Only so that it will filter out only the standalone questions. Once you select all the filters, click on Search Button will display all the available questions which match this criteria and which are in "Accepted" status are on the right side.
All available questions are collapsed by default, but clicking on the Question ID or topic will show the expanded question view, including a preview question button that allows the user to view the questions as it would appear in an exam.
Click on the Green arrows on the Available Questions to select an individual questions for an exam to move it to the Exam Questions. You can select all the questions by clicking on the Check box for Select All and the click on Include Selected button. You can also select multiple questions by clicking on the check box displayed beside each question and click on the Include Selected button. You need not select a standalone question to be in a Standalone Exam. If for some reason you want to remove the selected questions from Exam questions, click on the Red Arrow that is displayed beside the Exam Question. You can remove all questions by clicking on the Check box for Select All and click on the Remove Selected button. You can also remove multiple questions by clicking on the check box
displayed beside each question and click on the Remove Selected button.
The Standalone Exam contains the Questions in the specific order. This order of the questions is specified here. The order is specified when it is added to the list of exam questions which is displayed beside each question under Exam questions. Exam questions can be re-ordered using the "order" box, by typing a new number representing the desired new position in the list. When you hover the mouse over an exam question, it displays an Up/Down arrows, click on it will allow the Exam questions to be re-ordered. The order of the questions can also be randomized by clicking on the Random Icon displayed beside the remove selected button.
Once you are done selecting the questions for the new Standalone Exam click on the Save button.
