myMedStudy Q&A Revising Instructions

Welcome to MedStudy's online Q&A and Flash Cards editor. Here you are able to review and revise Questions and Answers and/or Flash Cards.

To start, please navigate to http://my.medstudy.com. If not already logged in, you should see a login screen as shown below. Please log in with your email address and password. If you do not know your password, click "Forgot password" to reset it.

Once logged in, under the More heading option, select Submit / Review Q&As. This will open the main entry page for writing, reviewing, and revising Q&As or Flash Cards.

Find a Q&A to revise

To revise a question, click the green button labeled Start a review (found under Errata Q&As / Flash Cards). To continue working on a draft you have previously started, click Continue a review (more on that later).

You are now viewing a list of errata questions that may be reviewed. There is a filter box on the left side to narrow down your search. You will only be able to review the questions within topics that you have been given access to. You may choose any question from the list. Simply click on the question to begin your review.

To see additional information directly in the list view, including the full Stem, Question, and Board Testing Point, click the Show Entire Question link found at the top of the list (above the green question boxes). To preview a single question in a new tab, click the View Preview button on the right side of any item.

Review and Revise the errata Q&A

Click on a question to select it. Once you select a question, you'll be taken to the Q&A review page.
  • If you open the wrong question, just click the blue Select Action button (on the right side after you scroll down a bit) and select Don’t review.
  • In the top left corner, you will find the change topic link. If the question is not correctly categorized, click this link to update the topic to which the question belongs.
  • If you are reviewing and revising negatively phrased questions, most likely every part of the Q&A will need to be rewritten. To start, read the Board Testing Point to understand the concept that is being tested. Next, consider how the Question can be changed so that "not," "except," "least likely," "least effective," etc. can be eliminated. Then, the Stem/Scenario, Answer options, and Explanation will need to be revised as well. Be sure to state why the correct answer is correct at the beginning of the Explanation, and state why each distractor is incorrect at the end of the Explanation.
  • Remember to select the correct answer. Write 4 incorrect answers (distractors).
  • Please review the question thoroughly to ensure that no other edits are needed.
  • Explain the changes briefly in the Activity and Comments text box; e.g., "revised entire Q&A."
  • If the Board Testing Point is no longer relevant and the question is worthless (Rare!), in the Activity and Comments box at the bottom of the page, type in “Reject” and why you think the question should be deleted. A copyeditor will delete the Q&A. (Again, this is rare; usually the Q&A can be revised and improved.)
  • Once you've completely finished your review and edits, click Select Action and select Submit. (The question will then be assigned to copyeditors.)
  • Occasionally, copyeditors will have queries for you and they will push back the Q&A to you. You will receive an email alert. Please read the copyeditor Comments next to each section of the Q&A (click on the comment bubble to the right of the Q&A section; i.e., to the right of the Question Stem). Respond to the queries and revise the content directly as needed. When you finish, click Select Action and select Submit.
  • If you do not finish a question during one session, it will remain assigned to you and you can finish it the next time you log in. But remember to click Select Action and select Save & Close or all of your changes will be lost! [See directions below on how to continue a review of in-progress questions.]

Once you have the entered appropriate comments, select one of several actions from the blue Select Action menu.
  • Submit - Use this option when your review/revision is complete. The question will then be assigned to copyeditors.
  • Don't review - Use this option if you decide not to review the question and you would like to return it to the list for someone else to review.
  • Show Errata Changes - This allows you to see previous changes in a pop up window.
  • Undo changes (since last save) - This allows you to undo the changes that were made since the last save.
  • Save changes (and continue working) - This allows you to save the changes you have made so far and continue reviewing/revising the question. We recommend you use this frequently to protect from losing work should your browser tab accidentally close or navigate away.
  • Save & Close - You can save your work and continue it at a later time. You must come back to the question later to complete the review.
  • Close (without saving) - This closes the question without saving any changes you have made since your last save. You will need to come back to the question later to complete the review.
Continue a review/revision

If you have saved and/or closed a Q&A without submitting, you must continue it at a later time. To do this, click the Continue a review button from the main page. You will be taken to a list of questions currently assigned to. You may click on any question in the list to continue your work.

To view your entire review history of in-progress and past reviews, click the box labeled Click here to view your errata review history. You will be taken to a list where you can review every question you've reviewed, and you can view a brief history of the actions you've taken. The questions are listed in chronological order with the most recently reviewed questions at the top. You can click on a question to view it and read other reviewers comments about the question.
