MedStudy Flash Card Creation Instructions

Online Pediatrics Flash Card Creation Process

1.    Go to http://my.medstudy.com

2.    Log in using your email address and password; if you forgot your password, click “I forgot my password?”

3.    At the top of the page, click Hello, [your name] in the header to display a dropdown selection; then, select Submit/Review Q&As.

4.    In MedStudy Content Management System, click on Add new

5.    Choose Flash Cards under Select intended use

6.    Select Pediatrics under Select Specialty

7.    From the dropdown box next to green box titled Select this topic select your topic. Continue to drill down and select the most appropriate subtopic until there are no subtopic options left. Click the green box opposite your last selection, which will save all the selections above it. NOTE: The (view xx existing) comment to the right of the Select this topic box shows the number of Q&As already in this topic or subtopic. To guide you in quickly identifying the appropriate subtopic(s), we’ve provided a PDF of your Core section; just use a “find” word search of the Core section to find the subtopic(s). 

8.    Use the template provided to enter:
a.      Question Stem – classic features of a specific illness (i.e. symptoms and lab results)
b.      Question – what is the diagnosis?
c.       Answer – short answer stating the correct diagnosis
d.      Explanation – detailed explanation including key features and distinguishing elements of the diagnosis, helping the user understand why the list of features most appropriately fits a specific diagnosis and not other similar ones

9.    Scroll down and click on the blue Select Action button on the right and select Submit – if your question is complete; or select Save & Close to save your question to continue at a later time.  You will be returned to the MedStudy Content Management System to Add new or Continue new.


Continue working on a new Flash Card

1.    If you selected Save & Close when you created a Flash Card, you must continue working on it at a later time.
2.    Once you are logged in, click More in the header at the top of the page to display a dropdown selection; then, select Submit / Review Q&As. (If you are already logged in, click on the Go Back button at the top of the page to return you to the MedStudy Content Management System page to select Continue new.)
3.    Click on the orange Continue new button, which will take you to a list of Flash Cards currently assigned to you to complete the review (sorted in order of Flash Card number).
4.    Click on the Flash Card to resume your review and follow the review process steps to Submit or Reject (Flash Card is no good).

Continue working on a new Flash Card you’ve already submitted

1.    If you selected Submit when you created a Flash Card, you can take it back for further updates.
2.    Once you are logged in, click More in the header at the top of the page to display a dropdown selection; then, select Submit / Review Q&As. (If you are already logged in, click on the Go Back button at the top of the page to return you to the MedStudy Content Management System page to select Continue new.)
3.    Click on the orange Continue new button, which will take you to a list of Flash Cards currently assigned to you (sorted in order of Flash Card number).
4.    To view all Flash Cards you have previously submitted, click on the box labeled Click here to show all questions you’ve submitted. The list of Flash Cards is in chronological order with the most recently reviewed Flash Cards at the top.
5.    If you’ve already submitted a review and want to continue working on it, click in the Your History box within the Flash Card box, which will open the Flash Card.
6.    Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Select Action button and select Take Back, which will open the Flash Card in a format you can edit.

7.    Make your changes/updates and follow the review process steps to Submit or Reject (Flash Card is no good).
